Woodhall Manor Wedding Photography Sneak Peek

Molly & Ali โ€” A Warm, Elegant Wedding at Woodhall Manor

Woodhall Manor is one of those venues with a quiet charm – not as imposing as a grand hall, but full of warmth, character and beautiful corners for photography. Molly & Aliโ€™s wedding suited it perfectly. Relaxed, joyful and full of people genuinely happy to be there, it was the kind of day where everything just felt right from the start.

The weather was beautiful – bright, warm and full of golden light later in the evening – and the atmosphere matched it. Guests spilled out onto the grounds for afternoon drinks, conversations on the lawn, laughter and hugs under the sunshine. It was the kind of reception where you could feel the closeness of family and friends.

A lovely family connection

This wedding was especially meaningful for me – Molly is the sister of my nephew Sebโ€™s girlfriend, Murphy, so there was a personal thread woven through the day. Being invited to photograph a celebration with familiar faces made it feel even more special. I was even seated at the top table during the meal, which was a real honour and a testament to how welcoming everyone was.

Little details like that stay with you – weddings may be long days, but when youโ€™re surrounded by warmth and good energy, you feel it deeply.

Golden hour magic

As evening arrived, the light softened and gave us perfect conditions for portraits. Woodhall Manor really comes alive at golden hour – sun dipping low over the gardens, warm tones on the stone walls, and a relaxed atmosphere after speeches and dinner. Molly and Ali were effortless to photograph, completely themselves, just enjoying the moment together. Those images have a timeless feel – the kind couples cherish decades later.

It’s always a privilege to capture real connection like that – quiet, natural, beautiful.

A memorable day from start to finish

Molly & Aliโ€™s wedding was full of heart – a day of family, love, soft summer light and genuine joy. They were thrilled with the photographs, which is the best feeling any photographer can hope for. A truly wonderful day at Woodhall Manor.

If youโ€™re planning a Woodhall Manor wedding (or something similar) and youโ€™d love relaxed, natural photography, Iโ€™d love to hear from you.

Hengrave Hall Wedding Photography Sneak Peek

Hengrave Hall Wedding Photography

Cheyenne & Jack โ€” A Dream Wedding at Hengrave Hall

Some weddings are breathtaking the moment you arrive – and Cheyenne and Jackโ€™s celebration at Hengrave Hall was one of them. The long driveway sweeping towards the historic building sets the tone immediately: grand, elegant, and steeped in character. Hengrave Hall is the kind of venue that feels like a fairytale backdrop, and this wedding lived up to every bit of it.

From the warm, golden weather to the perfectly manicured grounds, the day unfolded as if someone had planned it frame-by-frame. It was a joy to photograph โ€” relaxed, emotional, beautifully put together.

A ceremony filled with music & emotion

One of the most memorable moments of the day took place inside Hengrave Hallโ€™s on-site chapel. Cheyenneโ€™s bridesmaids sang gospel during the ceremony โ€” rich harmonies lifting the atmosphere and filling the space with something truly special. It was one of those moments where you could feel the emotion ripple across the room. Weddings often blur into highlights when you look back, but that moment will stay with everyone who witnessed it.

The ceremony was heartfelt, joyful and beautifully personal – the kind that reminds you why documenting weddings is such a privilege.

Golden light, stunning grounds, effortless joy

After the ceremony, guests spilled out into the sunshine to explore the gardens and celebrate together. The weather couldnโ€™t have been more perfect – soft light, blue skies, and warm air that kept everyone outdoors laughing, hugging, catching up and enjoying the grounds. The atmosphere was relaxed and full of life – exactly the kind of day I love to capture naturally.

We took portraits across the grounds, using the architectural backdrops and historic textures of Hengrave Hall to complement the coupleโ€™s elegant style. Thereโ€™s something about old stone, formal gardens and natural candid moments that just works – a timeless feel you know will still look beautiful decades from now.

A perfect day from start to finish

Cheyenne and Jackโ€™s wedding had everything – stunning location, heartfelt moments, emotional music and a couple who were simply wonderful to photograph. A true dream day at Hengrave Hall.

If youโ€™re planning a wedding at Hengrave Hall or a similar venue and love natural documentary photography, Iโ€™d love to hear your plans.

Millie & Danny โ€“ A Beautifully Elegant Wedding at Seckford Hall

Some weddings simply flow. From the moment I arrived at Seckford Hall, with its charming grounds and timeless character, it was clear that Millie and Dannyโ€™s wedding was going to be something special. Elegant, relaxed, beautifully put together – the perfect mix of refinement and joy.

I was fortunate enough to photograph this wedding on behalf of Terry at Lily & White Photography, and it was a pleasure to be part of such a memorable day.

A timeless, sophisticated aesthetic

Millie looked incredible – a graceful, effortlessly stylish bride, joined by bridesmaids who complemented the look perfectly. Danny and his groomsmen chose classic black tuxedos, and the result was striking. Thereโ€™s something about tuxes at a wedding – they set the tone instantly. Polished, confident, undeniably classy. Combined with the venueโ€™s natural beauty, it felt like a scene from a modern editorial.

The weather couldnโ€™t have been better – clear skies, soft golden light and just enough warmth to keep guests outside enjoying the gardens. The whole day unfolded with a sense of ease: no rush, no stress, just people enjoying themselves and being fully present.

A joy from start to finish

From the ceremony through to the evening celebrations, everything felt beautifully seamless. Laughter, hugs, drinks on the lawn, emotional moments that came and went in seconds – the kind of day that reminds you why weddings matter. Real connection. Real love. Real celebration.

As a photographer, Seckford Hall is a dream location. Spacious grounds, elegant interiors, and countless pockets of soft natural light – the kind of environment that makes authentic documentary photography effortless. These are the weddings I love to capture: honest, emotive, full of character and personality.

A final word

Millie and Danny, thank you for being such a wonderful couple to photograph. And thank you to Terry for trusting me to be part of the day – it was an honour to shoot alongside Lily & White Photography.

If youโ€™re planning your own wedding and love relaxed, elegant photography with a natural feel, Iโ€™d love to hear from you.

How High The Moon: A New Chapter in Wedding Photography

Essex Wedding Photographer

After years of photographing weddings under my own name, Iโ€™ve taken a leap and officially rebranded as How High The Moon Wedding Photography. Along with the name change comes a brand-new website โ€” clearer, more refined, and designed to showcase the kind of bold, beautiful imagery Iโ€™ve become known for.

This rebrand is more than just a new logo or a fresh coat of paint. It reflects where I am creatively. My style has grown and evolved โ€” and I wanted the brand to evolve with it. Iโ€™m proud of the work Iโ€™ve done over the years, but Iโ€™ve felt for a while now that it was time to create something that felt more aligned with my vision and the couples I love working with.

So why How High The Moon? Because to me, great wedding photography is about more than just capturing a moment โ€” itโ€™s about creating something timeless and emotional, something that lifts you. I want my couples to feel that theyโ€™re in safe hands, that they can relax, be themselves, and trust that Iโ€™ll be capturing the magic as it unfolds. No stiff poses. No awkward instructions. Just beautiful, honest storytelling with a creative edge.

The new site is now live, and Iโ€™d love for you to take a look around. Whether you’re a current client, newly engaged, or just someone who enjoys beautiful photography, I hope youโ€™ll find something that resonates with you. Iโ€™ve included updated galleries, clearer package info, and a simpler way to get in touch โ€” because great photography should feel effortless from the very beginning.

This rebrand is the start of something exciting โ€” and if you’re reading this, Iโ€™d love for you to be part of it.

Best Wedding Photography of 2024 – and an apology :)

Old Kent Barn Wedding Photography

So, it’s that time again – a look back at the best wedding moments from 2024!

Before we get into it, I owe you a huge apology. It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged…there are numerous professional and personal reasons why blogging just hasn’t happened recently, and I won’t bore you with all the details now…but I thought it was time I rectified the situation once and for all.

Also, if you click on the Featured Weddings link in the main nav, you’ll see a number of weddings there from the past couple of years…there are still a few that need to be added, so keep an eye out for those as well.

My last piece of news is that I’m now based in Essex, so this website will be undergoing a major overhaul in the New Year. Once again, watch this space…

So without further ado, here are the best moments from the past 12 months. I’d like to thank all my couples for being abso-flipping-lutely amazing, and for making the past year one of the best of my career. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Also, I have to thank the usual suspects and amazing photographers who’ve helped me out and supported me this year…and I’m very happy to say that all have become wonderful friends. So I’d like to thank Sian at Sian Cook Photography, Lindsey at LNZ Photo & Film, Terry at Lily & White Photography, Matt at Black Rock Films, Rich at Carlton Films, Grae at Eyes Closed, Head First Photography and Martin at Martin Beale Photography. I love you all and I’m not entirely sure what I’ve have done this year without your expertise and support.

Best Wedding Photography of 2022

Best Wedding Photography 2022

I know I’m a bit late to the party (it’s halfway through January already, where’s the time going?!!), but I thought I’d put together some of my favourite photos from 2022.

So, what did 2022 bring? I’ll be honest with you – it was one of the most challenging years of my life.

I won’t go into details, but my personal life was extremely up and down – what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, eh?! However, from a business perspective it was far and away the busiest and most enjoyable year of my wedding photography career.

I photographed over forty weddings, worked with some stupendous couples at some ridiculously gorgeous venues. captured thousands of wonderful moments, and worked with some amazingly talented suppliers.

I still pinch myself when I think back to when I first started out, and how I struggled during those first few years to book more than 10 weddings a year. Also, during the pandemic I was this close to jacking it all in, selling most of my kit and going to live in a monastery.

(Okay, the monastery bit isn’t true, but you get the gist).

Anyway, thank God I didn’t, because I wouldn’t have experienced and photographed over forty sensational weddings in the last year!

Speaking of which, here are some of the best photos from the last twelve months. Enjoy!

(Before I share them I really wanted to thank the following photographers and videographers who I worked with in 2022, because not only are they some of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with, but I’m extremely proud to class them all as friends as well).

So thank you Sian at Sian Cook Photography, Lindsey at LNZ Photo & Film, Terry at Lily & White Photography, Matt at Black Rock Films, Rich at Carlton Films and James at Eyes Closed, Head First Photography. You all rock so hard, it literally hurts.

Best Wedding Photography of 2021

Kent Wedding Photographer

I suspect 2021 will be a year that most people won’t forget in a hurry.

The ongoing saga of Covid, various lockdowns, the pervading question of “Will anyone ever get married ever again?!” and a general air of lingering uncertainty…before wedding season kicked off at a thousand miles an hour!

Even though 2021 was extremely challenging, I’m wary of complaining about a year where I was busier than I’ve ever been in my life. Not only did I photograph a year’s worth of weddings in around five months, I also took on a short-term contract job in the summer to bolster my business bank account.

Yep, 2021 was carnage. But ultimately in a good way!

So what about the weddings themselves? Well, they certainly didn’t disappoint! Some of the venues took my breath away, some of the speeches elicited tears of joy…and occasional sadness too.

Some weddings were huge grandiose affairs, and some weddings were small, intimate arrangements with just close friends and family in attendance.

However, all of them were remarkable in their own way, not just because of the reasons mentioned above, but because they all took place in a global pandemic.

Have some of that Covid!!

Here are some of the best photos from the last 12 months. Which ones are your favourites? Let me know in the comments below!

Love 1, Covid 0

You may have noticed that there’s a pandemic going around at the moment.

You may also have noticed that people are still being sensible and going about their daily business, that life goes on and, perhaps most importantly of all (to me anyway), people are refusing to let this infernal Coronavirus grind them down and are displaying their love (and defiance) by getting married.

I mean, how rock and roll is that?

Gracie and Jack are one such couple. As with many others who have been planning their wedding for a while, a lavish celebration was originally planned in France back in the summer, but Coronavirus very much put paid to that.

However, love always seems to find a way, so Gracie and Jack tied the knot with close family and friends present at Chelsea Old Town Hall.

Luckily for me they asked me to photograph the joyous occasion, and here are some of the best photos from the day!

Love > Covid

Phrases that no-one had heard of in 2019 but have become commonplace in 2020:

  • Furloughed
  • Covid
  • Freegan*
  • Micro-wedding

*It’s someone who believes it’s wrong to throw away food while millions of people around the world are hungry. Quite right too.

A couple of weeks ago I photographed my first Covid wedding, and due to the Coronavirus pandemic laying waste to 2020 and everything in it – my first actual wedding of the year. Crazy times indeed.

Luckily it was one of the loveliest, most relaxed weddings I’ve photographed in a while!

Charlotte and Conan were the happy couple, and even though their plans for a larger wedding were put on hold, they decided to work around the current restrictions and tie the knot at Danson House in Bexleyheath.

Here are some of the best images from the day – enjoy!

Oh, and if you’re thinking of getting married during this pandemic, I can heartily recommend opting for a micro wedding. If you’d like some more information about how I can help, please contact me.
